Russian Drone and Missile Attack on Kyiv Kills 6 and Injures at Least 35
Kyiv, Ukraine — A massive Russian drone and missile assault struck the Ukrainian capital early Friday, killing six people and injuring at least 35, according to Ukrainian officials. The attack, one of the largest in recent weeks, caused widespread destruction in several districts of Kyiv.

The assault involved a large number of drones and
cruise missiles, many of which targeted residential neighborhoods and
critical infrastructure. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted several incoming
missiles, but debris and direct strikes still caused significant damage to
homes, vehicles, and public buildings.
Emergency services reported that victims included men,
women, and even a pregnant woman who was among those seriously injured.
Firefighters worked for hours to put out blazes ignited by falling debris.
Officials stated that energy facilities and civilian
areas appeared to be targeted, raising concerns about further blackouts as
winter approaches. Several buildings were left without electricity, and rescue
teams continued searching through damaged structures for survivors.
Outside the capital, additional strikes hit parts of
southern Ukraine, where drones damaged a crowded street in a coastal town,
causing more casualties, including a young child.
Ukrainian leaders condemned the attack, describing it
as a deliberate attempt to cause maximum harm to civilians. The strike also
comes amid growing concerns about intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine’s
energy infrastructure before the winter season.
The assault marks another escalation in the ongoing
conflict, highlighting the increasing use of drone swarms combined with missile
attacks, and underscoring the urgent need for enhanced air-defense systems
across Ukraine.
